I was going to reblog Jess’s post last night and say how much I love Blue Bell Ice Cream (Cookies and Cream for life!) But I have to agree with Allie on this one! Even though I grew up eating Blue Bell (my grandparents ALWAYS had a a tub of vanilla in the freezer, and a couple more in the deep freeze in the basement), the first time I had Jeni’s a few months ago in their Chagrin Falls store it was a religious experience. I guess you wouldn’t understand unless you know how much I love ice cream….Anywho- The grocery store in my apartment building carries pints of jeni’s ice cream for $11.  Yes, totally an absurdly ridiculous amount to spend on ice cream, but Lord, it’s so good. Jeni’s Dark Chocolate for Life.

Blue Bell - The World’s Finest Frozen Treat

I’m heading home to Houston tomorrow for a wedding (#2 of this year’s 8), to spend some time with my family, introduce Hannah to the great state of Texas and FINALLY take Andrew on a tour of the famous Blue Bell Creamery!

He’s bugged me to schlep the 70 miles out to Blue Bell’s headquarters in Brenham, TX every time we’ve gone to Houston over the last four years. This time, we’re making it happen. The mecca of ice cream deliciousness awaits…

Sadly, Blue Bell was not available in Columbia, MO. However, 20 miles west of Columbia, at the exit for the Isle of Capri casino, there was a truckstop that had a Blue Bell freezer. Needless to say, after turning 21, I spent many nights losing my ass at the blackjack tables and then drowning my sorrows with a pint of homemade vanilla.
